Weekly Update

T's cold persisted into this week so we kept a low profile...

She played with her new toy Grandma D sent her - Violet:

She had her first "real" meal - sweet potatoes - and totally loved them!

She practiced walking with Daddy:

We celebrated baby's 6 month birthday!!

Started hiding all her toys in her highchair:

We went to breakfast at Memphis and T sat in a restaurant highchair for the first time:

Then she played with Daddy and went all Mike Tyson on him:

On Sunday morning we got news that our Grandpa Ditata passed away. We are heartbroken and still can't believe it. The day was a whirlwind of planning our unexpected trip Ohio for the next day. Needless to say it was emotionally exhausting.

Half Of A Year

Could this really have been 6 months ago?

6 months ago that this beautiful being was placed on my chest?

6 months ago that my life was changed forever?

It seems like just yesterday that we became a family...

And now she has already grown into this vibrant, beautiful, little chicky:

Happy 6 Month Birthday, T-Bird!!

Tenley now weighs 19 pounds 9 ounces and is 27.5 inches long. She wears size 4 diapers, but will be upgrading to size 5 diapers next time. She wears size 6 , 9, or 6-12 month onsies (depending on the brand) and is in size 6-12 month bottoms. Last month I bought size 12-18 month bottoms and they wouldn't fit over her squishy thighs and now they fall off of her. (Looks like T and I will have to go shopping again ...whoops!!)

So what has Tenley been up to this month?

• She now has TWO teeth!!
• She loves eating her piggies.
• She can sit in a shopping cart.
• She now sits up in her bath seat.
• She started sitting in her jogger without being in her car seat.
• She can stand on her own while leaning against something, but tires easily.
• She loves bouncing in her bouncer and walking around the house in her walker.
• She had her first meal - sweet potatoes - two days before her 6 month birthday.
• She can sit up like a champ. She can even move around and play while sitting up.

I simply can't believe Tenley will be a year old in just another short 6 months. If this half of the year went this fast I can't imagine how fast the next half of the year is going to go. She's going to be doing so much more... eating, talking, crawling, walking and so much more!! It's going to fly by... I'm going to take it all in and just savor every moment.

It truly has been an amazing 6 months!

Tenley's First Meal {Sweet Potatoes}

I have a love/hate relationship with Tenley growing up...

I love how fun it is seeing her develop and I hate that she may not entirely need me to function someday. We chose to wait to start her on solids until she was 6 months old to let her tummy mature. Since Ed ended up having work and school on her 6 month birthday and we were eating potatoes for dinner 2 days before her 6 month birthday I decided to pick up an organic sweet potato so T-Bird could eat dinner with us, too. She has been practically grabbing our food out of our hands and off of our plates and she has two teeth now. It was time I realized she was ready, even if I wasn't.

A few months back I inquired about baby food processors on a Facebook page I belong to, Vegas Mommy's, and a lot of the Moms told me to just use a regular food processor to make baby food and it just so happens that I already owned one so SCORE. They also told me to just use ice cube trays to freeze the extra baby food. Then, one of the owners of 'Fresh Baby' wrote me and offered to send me the So Easy Baby Food Kit:

I totally love it! The cook book is great and has places to put pictures in and places for you to put the dates your baby tried the foods and their reaction to the food. The cook book also tells you how to pick the produce, how to store it and the best way to cook it to keep the most nutrients in it; which is super important to me. Cooking baby food was a lot easier than I thought and I will definitely keep doing it so I know she is getting the best of the best.

When Ed sat Tenley in her highchair and she saw the food she was so excited and kept grabbing and pulling the spoon to her mouth. She was grabbing so much that Ed had to hold her down a bit. She couldn't get enough!

See how I have a love/hate relationship? It was hard for me to watch her eat actual food and I did cry that night, but I did loveeee watching Ed feed her - they were just thee cutest!
