Quarter of A Century Young

Quarter of A Century

Ugh, Yeah... I'm 25. Happy friggin' birthday to me.

It's no secret that I despise hate my birthday. It's a day that is cursed in my book. Luckily, I had my lil' munchkin this year to make it wayyy better. Ed is building me stands for the laundry machines for my birthday present and little sugar butt even bought me a gift card to get a manicure and pedicure (although the thought of leaving her to get my nails done makes me want to cry. I wonder if she told Ed she needs some time away from me?!). Ed took us to dinner at my favorite BBQ place - Memphis Barbeque. Dinner was delish, as always. Tenley had fun smelling the food and tried to talk to Daddy.

(She knows good food when she sees it!)

After dinner we went home to enjoy red velvet cake that Karina surprised me with.

The day felt like any other day except for the voice in my head that kept saying, "you're now on the bad side of 25". I never would have imagined that I'd be a mother at the age of 25. My days are a lot different than a lot of 25 year olds. Consumed by my daughter. Celebrating such a big milestone in such a low-key way was okay by me because ya know what? I'm so thrilled to have such a great little family. I'd rather go to dinner with my fam than out for a night of partying any day.

I guess 25 isn't so bad after all.

Here's to being a quarter of a century young and loving life! :)

The Vegas Air

The weather has been so beautiful that we decided to give Tenley a taste of the Vegas air and took her to the Acacia Demonstration Gardens by our house. We laid down a blanket and played with some of her toys, but mostly smothered her with kisses since that's the most fun thing to do anyways.

We had so much fun that Tenley Bear wanted to take a nap so we put her in her stoller and walked around the park. This park is neat because they have all these desert plants with plaques that explain what type of plant it is and where it comes from.

The park even has a lot of bunnies hoppin' around!

We had such a good day as a family and are going to attempt a new park next week and go for a hike. It should be interesting to say the least!

I just love my lil' fam.

Weekly Update

We started the week by celebrating Tenley's 2 Month Birthday!

Which was followed by lots of swing-time and daddy snuggle-time.

Tenley had her 2 month wellness check-up and got the Nemo room, of course!

Baby girl seemed fine after her first round of shots and played with her new favorite toy that night - the glowworm.

The following day we had a play date with Karina and Sofia. Sofia slept the entire time, per her usual style, but Tenley only wanted to be held. Every time I set her down so I could have lunch and chit-chat she'd cry for me to pick her up. Luckily, Karina gave me a bit of a break and calmed Tenley down by showing her her favorite thing ...a Christmas tree!

When I got home, Tenley was screaming and nothing I did soothed her and Ed asked if I thought it could be from the shots. Shots?! I completely forgot that she got her shots the day before and the doc said if she was extra fussy to give her baby Tylenol. So daddy gave her Tylenol and some lovin' so she could feel better.

Poor baby hasn't been the same since. She is supposed to go back for her second round of shots at her 4 month wellness check-up, but I told Eddie if he wants her to get them then he can take her because I'm not. I have to do more research before I allow them to pump multiple shots in my baby that make her sick. Poor thing hasn't been the same for over a week now! So I guess her next round of shots are up in the air at this time...

She's still a trooper though and wanted to go visit her Auntie Frannie's new dog, Lola.

All the time with Lola made her pass out with a smile on her face.

We also celebrated New Year's Eve with friends.

(Love the back hole!)

Since it's extremely hard to party with a 2 month old baby around, we ended up at home and in bed by 10pm. Tenley went right to bed when we got home and Ed and I fell asleep at 11pm. We didn't make it to see the ball drop, but I'd much rather cuddle and catch up on some much needed sleep. Ahhh the life of a parent!

Tenley still wasn't feeling like herself on New Year's day so we stayed in and spent the morning cuddling, then playing all day.

(Look at her holding her rattle!)

What a great year 2011 has been for our family. I will always be fond of the year since it is the year my little Tenley was born - the greatest day of my life. Here's to 2012 being just as memorable!

Hope you all had a great New Year's! :)

Until next time...

2 Months Old

Happy 2 Month Old Birthday, Tenley!

Where have the last 2 months gone?!?

Let's see... My 2 month old is growing way too fast and is getting sooo smart! She can hold her head up and can also move it from left to right. She follows objects and voices and can even mimic what you're doing. For example, if you stick your tongue out, she'll stick hers out and smile. She loves her tongue and licks everythinggggg! If she's sitting up she'll lick her shoulder and if she's laying down she'll try to lick her chin. The best is when you're giving her a kiss on the lips and she slips you the tongue! Open mouthed kisses are the best. Since she's so fascinated with her tongue she's been drooling like a maniac. She's developed the cutest coos that sound as if she's saying mmmgooooo. She now grabs her toys and blankets and has a pretty good grip, too. She also has a routine down and gets thrown off by changes in it. One routine of hers I truly appreciate is her good sleeping skills. She's been sleeping throughout the night for about 3 weeks now and it is super-duper nice.

At her 2 month wellness check-up she weighed in at a whopping 14 pounds and 5.8 ounces and is now 24.5 inches long. The pediatrician says she is, "off the charts and perfect!" (Duh, I already knew she was perfect...) So I no longer have a percentile for her growth, I just know that she is "off the charts". The pediatrician said she is perfectly proportioned for her height and that she met all her 2 month milestones - smiling, cooing, moving her head, moving her eyes from left to right, etc. At this check-up baby girl got her first round of shots... she screamed and I cried; the two of us are such blubbering babies. Poor munchkin has been extra fussy since the shots and just wants to be held (no complaints there). Her next check-up and second round of shots will be at 4 months - yippee!!

The last 2 months have been a whirlwind, but it sure has been amazing. I've watched my life simply fade away and be completely consumed by my sweet chubby cheeked chicky, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Things that used to interest me no longer intrigue me. In a perfect world, I'd get to spend the entire day with Tenley and Ed and have no other distractions. I just can't get enough of them!

Weekly Update

Tenley is full of smiles these days.
(and not because of gas!)

Exhibit A:

Exhibit B:

She even smiles in her sleep.

She still loves sucking on her arm tummy time and even Pearl enjoys it.

She's also still in love with bathie time.

(and I'm in love with her doopa!)

She loves hangin' out with her friend, Sofia.

She was thrilled to help me in the kitchen...

so much enthusiasm that it put her to sleep!

(I love when she grabs onto me when she's falling asleep.)

She even helped roll out the pierogies the next day...

She was a big help, until she decided it was time to goof off with Daddy!

(Silly girl will eat just about anything...)

We also celebrated Tenley's first Christmas this week.

Until next time! :)
