BOOMS!!

When I heard that Summerlin was having a Macy's Thanksgiving Day style parade for the fourth of July I knew we just had to check it out. To top it off this fourth of July had the perfect parade weather: cloudy and not so dang hot!!

The parade started at 9am and Princess Tenley Bear slept in until 8:30 so we didn't get to the parade until around 10ish. We got a primo parking spot due to Ed cutting off a lady and weaseling our big Jeep into the spot, walked just seconds to the parade, and got a spot right under a nice big tree.

Tenley had the best view from her Daddy's shoulders:

First up were the Star Wars - Stormtroopers:

The Death Star:

R2D2:

Indian Dancers:

Kid Indian Dancers:

Band:

Hey Reb:

Toy Story Float:

Hello Kitty:

Then, Tenley's favorite float...

Mickey & Minnie Mouse!!

There were a lot more floats and balloons, but let's be honest... it was no Macy's!! We sure had fun watching all the people go by though and Tenley had fun clapping for everyone:

She even had fun crawling around in the grass:

After the parade we went to the Gerfy's and Tenley played outside in the rain for the first time ever:

We had fun relaxing by the jacuzzi and chit chatting on the patio while it rained. Frannie also brought her dog, Lola, who is really fond of Tenley and they had a ball playing together.

Once the weather cleared up we got to go swimming, but Lola made sure that Ed was very careful with her best friend:

It was finally time for fireworks and Tenley wasn't too sure about them...

We started off with the small things, like snakes (my fav), and Tenley watched as they grew:

Then, we moved onto Frannie's favorite - sparklers (T liked those, too!):

Tenley was good with ones that didn't make noises, but cried when we lit ones that popped. She liked to just watch ones like this:

I think it was because she was sooo sleepy:

We planned on going to Mission Hills Park to watch the fireworks, but since she cried at the sound of our lil' fireworks we decided it would be a bust and headed home... On the way home Ed and I saw so many big fireworks in our neighborhood and couldn't help but get excited and want to at least try to take her to see some fireworks. I mean it was her first fourth of July after all! Since we live right by Mission Hills Park we decided to walk close to the park to avoid parking and some of the noise and it ended up being perfect. We were able to see the fireworks and still hear all the BOOMS!!

Even though she was beyond sleepy, Tenley didn't mind these booms and kept pointing at the fireworks:

(We had SO much fun!!)

Tenley experienced her first parade, played in the rain for the first time, french kissed a puppy for the first time AND watched fireworks for the first time. We got to spend the day with some awesome people and had so much fun in the process. I'd say Tenley Bear had a great first fourth of July!!

HOPE EVERYONE HAD A SUPER DOOPER 4TH OF JULY!!

Weekly Update

Baby girl fed herself puffs on the patio and was a total goof ball:

She loves when Daddy throws her into the couch pillows:

We celebrated baby girl's 8 month birthday!

She tried prunes this week and wasn't too sure of them at first, but ended up liking them:

She continues to crawl everywhere:

Baby still loves her wagon rides outside:

She loves to practice standing now:

After she practiced standing we took a comparison photo just because... Look how much she has changed:
(3 weeks old, 5 months old, 8 months old)

Isn't is crazy how much she has changed?! I just can't believe my chunky monk had those teeny tiny legs and those lil' feetsies. My girl is growing so fast, but boy, oh boy is it fun. Just look at the personality on that munch!

She chowed down some carrots and stunned me with her baby blues in the process:

She also tried mangos this week and really liked them:

She points at everything now and does it alllll the time:

She even knows "Where's the Tenley Baby":

Until next week! :)

Crawling Everywhere

Happy 8 Month Birthday, Tenley-Rue!!

Ok, so this isn't the best picture, but look at Tenley's longgg legs!!

Baby girl is doing so much these days that it's hard to keep up with her...
Here's what she's been up to:
  • Baby girl weighs 22.5 pounds and is 29 inches long. When we stand her next to us she almost reaches our hips. It's crazy; she's like a little human.
  • She's still in size 5 diapers and due to her length her onesie size has jumped to 12 months, but she is still in size 6-12 month shorts.
  • She learned to clap and thinks it's so much fun to do. She also loves to watch you clap and cheer her on as well.
  • Another major milestone we accomplished this month is that Tenley has slept in her crib every night (for the entire night). GO TEAM! The breaking point was when she was learning to crawl and Ed woke up in the middle of the night and found her on all fours heading toward the bottom of the bed... there is just no containing this girl - she is such a mover. It is so nice to put her in her crib at night and let her fall asleep; while having the peace of mind that she won't fall out of our bed. Most nights she will go right to sleep and some nights she will toss and turn and we will find sitting on her knees with her hands on the rails starring at us as we walk by, but for the most part the crib is awesome sauce.
  • She is pulling herself up on everything and trying to climb everything she comes in contact with (even Mommy and Daddy).
  • At 7 1/2 months we officially declared her a crawler and now she is crawling everywhere!! She crawls to get her toys and especially crawls to get into things she shouldn't touch. She crawls to get Pearl and will go all the way around the couch and dining room table to get her... she's everywhere!! Click here to see some good crawling videos.
  • Once she started crawling we had to lower her pack-n-play and her crib because when she would crawl around in them and she could see over the top. Now that they are lower she sees it as a challenge to get out. The one night the little monkey girl was trying to escape. She's so silly!
  • Tenley is also standing with the assistance of furniture and toys pretty well these days. She plops over, but pulls herself right back up and falls again. Good practice though, right?
  • She can now get into the sitting position from her back; which is pretty crazy to me. It was funny to lay her in her crib, come back to check on her and find her sitting up.
  • She has added prunes, avocados, carrots and apple puffs to her menu of foods. She absolutely hated avocados. I mean, she wouldn't even swallow them. On the other hand, carrots are her absolute favorite; which is a total surprise to me because I hate carrots. Hopefully that means she will have good vision like her Daddy.
  • My favorite thing that she learned this month is to point. She points at EVERYTHING!! If you turn on a light, the fan, the TV or anything she'll point at it. It's the cutest thing.
I feel like she's growing up too fast and doing things even faster. This month she's crawling, then walking and then what? Like, she's not my baby anymore and creeping up to being a toddler very soon. Only 4 more months and she'll be 1! It's sad how quickly she's growing, but it's such a fun journey at the same time and we're enjoying every second of it!
