Ed and I were both off on Monday for Labor Day so we took advantage of the extra family time and walked to the park by our house. It was hot, but we made the most of it and even got in some t-ball practice:
While the kids napped, I rearranged my new Rae Dunn finds:
Later that night, we played with Orbeez and the twins were fascinated:
It was back to the grind Tuesday morning and Ev was not feeling it (I hear ya, sista!). She flipped out when we got home and I told her she wasn't allowed to go into the next door neighbors house. Apparently that is totally unacceptable- my bad:
Luckily, the twins trade off bad moods so Wesley was at least being sweet to me:
I love looking at Tenley's school work and seeing her try to complete the sentences:
While I worked, Ed took Wes (and the girls) to T-ball practice. His attention span never lasts more than 30 minutes, but at this age I'm just hoping he has fun:
Tenley had her Kinder school pictures Wednesday and looked so dang pretty in pink:
All the kids looked adorable and so grown up:
Since Wednesday was the twins last day before preschool started, I took them to Dunkin' Donuts to celebrate:
After donuts, Wes had to get his hair cut, again, since it grows like a weed:
Tenley brought home her school work and pics from her new friend:
She also got in her book order from the school's first book fair and girlfriend picked some good ones:
We had some rain Wednesday evening and Ev had a blast dancing in it:
She worked up an appetite and I snuck her stealing cool whip! She has such a sweet tooth, that one:
Thursday was the twins big day and my little chef, Everly, insisted on helping me make them a healthy breakfast:
Everly and Wesley were actually pretty excited about school; which was shocking because Wes cried every day last year. Tenley has been telling Wes how if he wants to go to the big kid school with her that he has to go to preschool without crying. Plus, it helped that Mommy would be there for some of the first day. No matter what caused the smiles, I'm so happy they were excited:
Can you believe how much bigger they are than last year?
Wes was a little clingy at first, but opened up when they brought out the puzzles:
This year's theme is 'Alphabet Soup' and being "Spot On!" Every Friday they're going to be Chef's and prepare their snack. I know the kids are going to love that so I'm super excited for this years theme! They decorated their school bags with paint dobbers and decorated their folders with dot stickers:
The kids had a great day at school; which was so relieving. Charley made Tenley a friendship bracelet and gave it to her at school so she also had a great day at school:
While Ed was on T-ball duty, I was teaching. I hate missing things like that, but I keep reminding myself that Ed is just as capable and that I will be at his games. Accepting that I can't do everything is a hard pill for me to swallow. The struggle of missing things is hard as a mom, but it was refreshing to leave work feeling like I helped others and witnessed a beautiful sunset:
The kids slept in, then kicked it in to gear to get ready for their first solo day at school:
I always feel the need to bring Wes something when I pick him up so he knows I didn't forget about him while he was away (and Ev, too). Wes has such a hard time leaving me for anything. This bad habit of mine is pricey, but I try to keep it little (since they go to school 3x's a week this year). I hit the jackpot when I found vampire fang gummies at HomeGoods; which were a huge hit:
After school we went to Costco for our weekly shopping. While shopping, Wes said to Ev, "actually I not gonna marry you...I gonna marry Isla." Ev didn't like that and kept screaming, "no! You marry mes only!" The battle went on for awhile and she kept smothering him with kisses:
We picked up Pearly from the groomers and she looked precious:
Tenley's school work really cracked me up on Friday. Every time I look at it I read, "Tenley The MF Enley!!!!!":
Tenley had her second cheer class Saturday morning and Ev was super nervous to try Dance at a new studio. She warmed up to it when we went inside, though:
Tenley cracked me up after class because she told me that her teacher was mean because, "she wants me to be, like, the perfect cheerleader and work really hard." I have no idea where she gets her amount of girliness from, but girlfriend doesn't like to sweat AT ALL. I told her a story about how when I started Pure Barre it was so hard and I felt like I was doing everything wrong, but I stuck with it, mastered it and am now teaching it. Now she wants to work hard so she can teach, but she is really missing dance so were going to see how and where we can squeeze that into our week, too. Since we have so much free time...
The weather this weekend felt like Fall and was absolute Heaven. I made a pot of Chili and invited the Rices over for dinner. We haven't hung out in forever so it was much overdue:
Ed and Wes looked so sweet before I left for work Sunday morning:
My barre bestie, Amelia, is finally back from Lebanon and brought me back some goodies:
(Thanks, Amelia!!)
The weather was cool Sunday evening so we played in the backyard. The kids pretended they were on a boat delivering goods to people affected by Hurrican Harvey:
Until next time! :)
