We've been reading chapter books at bedtime and the kids are loving them; which makes me one happy momma! So far we've read 'The Princess in Black' series; which has pictures and is such a great starter. At the book fair Tenley picked out the 'Whatever After' series and is so excited to begin them now that we're done with 'The Princess in Black'. She woke up bright and early Monday morning and wanted to start reading right away:
After T's drop-off, we stopped by the park on the way home:
On Tuesday, Wes was back to his crying ways at drop off...nothing new there! It really breaks my heart when he cries because I know he really misses me! Miss Marsha sent me a picture minutes after I left and said that he recovered quickly, per usual:
And, of course, he ended up having a blast learning about shapes at school:
While the kids rested, I got a shelf delivered (50% off online at Hobby Lobby) and immediately redecorated my little coffee corner. You know you're getting old when pottery makes you this happy:
I love hearing all about Tenley's day as we go over her school work:
The girls dressed like twins Wednesday morning and looked adorable, while Wes insisted on wearing his Spiderman mask all morning:
Pick-up was the absolute worst day I've experienced in a long time. It was sprinkling just a bit so Ev asked if we could get out of the car and play in the rain, even though we were quite early. We had a great day and I love the rain so I obliged. People think my kids are so cute and sweet, but they are still kids and don't like to share sometimes. Ev was getting frustrated because Wes also wanted to hold the umbrella:
I was told Tenley's Progress Report was posted online so I was trying to pull it up on my phone because I'm a Nervous Nelly and have zero chill. My phone wasn't working and the kids kept going back and forth. I told Ev to share or I'd take the umbrella. She wouldn't listen. I had to take the umbrella because they kept going at each other. That set a fire under Ev's ass so I, of course, gave in and gave it back to her. They continued to fight and I tried holding it together. I reached my breaking point and took the umbrella and put it in my purse. I told Ev she wasn't going to have it if she couldn't share with her brother (plus it hadn't been raining for the past 10 minutes anyways). Ev lost it. She was flailing around so much that I couldn't hold her because I was scared I would drop her on the pavement. I had no other choice then to let her flail around on the ground like a maniac. In the process she knocked stuff out of my purse and a fellow Kinder mom came up to me an said "You dropped your pills." As if it couldn't get worse, I've been carrying around probiotics in a baggy like an idiot and that would be my freaking luck! Tenley came out and instantly started crying because she doesn't know what else to do when she sees someone having a tantrum. I had to carry Ev through the crowded parking lot, kicking and screaming...legit kicked off her shoes several times. The walk to the car felt like an eternity with all eyes on us. Of course, we got to the car and she turns into a 2x4 and will not get in her seat. As I'm pleading with her, in tears, a lady comes over trying to comfort me by saying, "my son, who has autism, does this all the time, can I help?" No, lady. Thanks, but no freaking thanks. Of course, it's times like these when you see clients from work as well. Like, sure why not see me at my worst! One shit storm after the other. After 40 minutes of struggling in the parking lot we finally got home and Ev then wouldn't get out of the car. She wanted me to take her back to the school to put her shoes on in the parking lot. Really?! When she throws these fits, it is honestly like she's possessed. She can't hear or see me, it seems. There's really nothing I could do. Even though she wouldn't get out of the car, I was just happy to be home with my little demon in one piece:
She cried for hours. All we could do was ignore her behavior so Tenley and I went over school work:
I had to put Ev to bed with a bandaid on her forehead because she said it hurt so bad (probably because she was banging it on her bed):
Ev was a new girl Thursday morning and excited for school (me too, girl!). She was prepared to learn about shapes in her new shape leggings:
I caught some mistakes in T's school work so we worked on understanding and correcting them. While doing homework, I got a text from her Teacher that said, "Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy having Tenley in class. She is such a sweet girl and a fast learner." That made the parking lot tantrum worth it! I'm beyond proud of that girl:
That evening T's school had Skate Night at Crystal Palace. The kids have never been on skates and it was a real hoot! It took us 30 minutes to make it around the rink once and our backs were on fire, but the giggles were 100% worth it and much needed:
Everyone was ready for spirit day Friday morning...even Pearly:
The twins couldn't stop talking about how they made pizza with shapes at school:
My Rae Dunn enabler Mom sent me a package Friday with some goodies and we experienced our first Dunn casualty and were heart broken:
(Thanks, Momma!! I LOVE it and am so gluing it!!)
Ev went into beast mode and refused to get into the car for pick-up. I had to call Stevie and asked her to pick Tenley up, thank God she is such a sweet friend and didn't mind at all! Tenley came home super excited and brought home lots of school work. She explained it all to me with such excitement:
Ev couldn't hang after all that screaming and put herself to bed early:
I bought the kids flash cards and lots of Halloween books from Barnes and Noble and Tenley is obsessed with these dry erase cards:
Ed worked Saturday again and I was bummed, but the girls did so good at dance and cheer; which made me happy:
Ed brought me home a beautiful bouquet of roses after work on Saturday:
(Thanks, Ed! Love you!)
We went bummin' on Sunday and enjoyed the most delicious chocolate carmel balls and the beautiful weather:
Until next time! :)
