Monday was my niece's 3rd birthday so we went to dinner at Carmine's in the Forum Shoppes at Casear's Palace. Wes was so excited when they brought out the strawberry shortcake that looked like a mountain of cool whip:
Tenley enjoyed getting to eat the mountain of cake and take selfies with Grammy:
Tenley Bear woke up with the sniffles Tuesday morning so we decided to take it easy. While the babies napped, Tenley and I worked on her letter workbook:
That night I cooked dinner for the whole fam since it was my in-laws last full day in town. We had a good time relaxing at home while watching the cousins giggle and play together.
Grammy and Pop Pop came over Wednesday morning to play with the kids one last time before heading back home:
Watching the kids say goodbye to their grandparents is heartbreaking and just gets worse every time. It's especially hard when Tenley is hugging them, saying goodbye then asks, "you'll be back after nap time, right?" Just heartbreaking. Grammy and Pop Pop made sure to get in lots of snuggles before they had to say goodbye:
(Miss you guys already!!)
Ev woke up on Thursday with a runny nose just like Tenley, but I'm not sure if she is sick or just teething because she is fine otherwise. I didn't want to take the kids anywhere due to their runny noses, but they needed to get out so we played in the backyard for a bit. And, of course, Tenley snuck lollipops outside for everyone because they just couldn't play without them, duh:
Tenley waned to help me cook dinner Thursday night so I put her on salad duty while the twins were busy playing peek-a-boo and giving hugs on my legs while I cooked:
Some rain clouds started rolling in after dinner and though it was not a good idea since Tenley and Ev already had the sniffles, we took the kids outside to play in the rain:
Since I've stopped nursing the babies so much (I'm down to about 4 or 5 times per baby a day) I've gotten the urge to workout again. I'm one of those moms who feels guilty leaving to go to the gym when Ed gets home so I pulled up some workouts on YouTube through the TV. I came across this 15 minute preview of the 21 Day Fix and loved it. The kids were copying my every move and I was getting an extra ab workout from laughing so hard. Tenley kept saying, "good job, mommy! You're doing so good!" and "woah, this makes my belly hurt!" It feels so good to be back to my old ways and more importantly showing the kids how to be healthy:
Unless we go outside to play or leave the house we shamefully stay in our PJs (yeah, I'm THAT mom), but not my Tenley Bear. She goes into her room every morning, picks out her dress, shoes (house shoes, of course) and accessories. And if we are going somewhere she has to choose her outfit first, then she has to help pick the twin's outfits or she'll push me aside and pick them herself. She's such a little fashionista. I don't know where she gets it from (must be from her Grandma Cath). She was really missing Grammy and Pop Pop on Friday and thought she was going to see them that afternoon. When I explained that they were back in Ohio she told me to send them a picture of her in her "I'm so bancy pose":
Tenley is absolutely obsessed with 'Inside Out' (especially Disgust). When I saw this book in the $1 bins at Target I had to get it for her. We've read it so many times that she can either read it or has it memorized:
The twins turned 19 months old on Saturday! It is mind boggling how quickly the time has flown by. I am starting to wean the babies and caught myself saying, "I can't wait to be done nursing the babies!" Then, Evie held onto Wes' wrist so gently until they both fell asleep for their naps Saturday afternoon; which reminded me to take this time slowly because they're not going to be like this forever:
Francesca and Matt welcomed the sweetest baby girl, Amelia, into the world on August 2nd. The poor little angel was in the NICU for several days and finally got to come home on Friday. I was practically knocking down the door to hold that beautiful girl. She was bright eyed and beautiful, then quickly fell asleep as we chatted. I am just so in love with her already:
(Congrats, Frannie and Matt! She is perfect! We love you all!)
Usually the twins still wake up at 4am crying to nurse so I bring them in bed with me to nurse them back to sleep. Since I'm trying to wean them I decided to ignore the cries; which was so rough to do. Ev cried so long. She is more of a mommy's girl. Once she finally fell back to sleep she passed out until 9am on Sunday morning:
We went shopping on Sunday to let Tenley pick out new panties since she is now wearing panties all night (woo-hoo!!). While shopping the twins scored some big stuffed Pooh Bears for their collection:
Until next time! :)
