Tenley dressed herself and the twins, then insisted on playing outside despite the scorching temps Monday morning:
That evening she dressed as a "pop star" and gave me her best "rock star pose":
The kids love when we pull up KidzBop videos on the TV. They'll dance around together forever and copy each others moves. It's quite possibly the cutest thing I've ever seen:
Tenley's favorite video to dance to is 'Shake it Off' Disney Princess Style or as she calls it, "that's what people say...umm umm!! Disney Princess Style." She is obsessed and Ed and I just crack up at the people in this video:
Since the kids still had runny noses we were stuck at home again on Tuesday. They kept things interesting by giving each other rides on the table:
Tenley's dance recital pictures came in on Wednesday so I went down to the studio to get the pictures right away. They came out so adorable!! As much as I was over dance seeing the pictures made me so excited for it to start-up again:
We played outside Thursday morning and it was so insanely hot. So hot that it was causing Tenley to get a fro. In an attempt to cool them down, they snacked on frozen yogurt:
(Wes' face is like, "this heat has me like...")
While the twins took amazing naps together, Tenley and I worked on letters in her new book:
We watched the backyard flood Thursday night as we got our worst storm of the year, in my opinion:
I was having an awful morning Friday. The kids woke up super early, the twins were super cranky from teething and Tenley was just being her defiant self. I was just o-v-e-r it. When you have sick weeks and are stuck at home all week it starts to get to you. Then, I signed on to Facebook and saw that I won $250 to my favorite shop, Freshly Picked, and $250 to Seedling, a new shop that I'm really looking forward to shopping at! I was so excited and stunned! Seeing this was a total game changer:
My brother, Ray, flew into town last night for a bachelor party and the kids were so excited to see him. We really wanted to go see the Kabuki water show at the Bellagio at 9:15pm so we figured we'd go crash the bachelor party at the Cosmo, then head over to the Bellagio. I gave the kids baths before we headed down there so when we got home later they could go straight to bed:
The bachelor pad at the Cosmo was so nice and had the best view! It was sort of drizzling so we saw the biggest rainbow over the city and it was beautiful. The kids were such daredevils and kept leaning on the glass and even climbing up on the pegs- totally giving me a heart attack the entire time. Tenley was so cute with Uncle Ray and had so much fun walking around with him. We went to dinner at Holstein's (which had the best, saltiest burgers) and Tenley made him hold her hand and take pictures with her the entire time:
Our bachelor party crashin' was over when the "real" party began. We still had 2 hours to kill before the Kabuki show so we decided to walk around a bit...We saw this big 'Lucky Cat' that gave a fortune when you touched it's paw and Tenley wanted to see it so we obliged. After getting my fortune that just said 'you're in luck! Have a coffee on us." Tenley began to walk backwards and fell backwards on these two stairs:
Once I finally calmed her down we went to the Crystals mall and the kids had fun there:
The kids enjoyed playing at the mall, until they started to get super cranky. In an attempt to distract them from their tantrums. I brought Ev over to the Mui Mui store front window that had these gorgeous gold glittery shoes and she immediately stopped fussing. I yelled for Tenley to come look at the shoes and she started to run to me and never stopped...she ran full speed into the glass window. With a whole hour and 15 minutes left until the water show we decided to throw in the towel and take this shit show home.
Ray was really only in town for 2 full days and they had golfing Saturday morning and had bachelor-like things planned so that was the only time we got to see him, but I'm so glad we did because we had so much fun and Tenley can't stop talking about how she partied with Uncle Ray and his friends! We love and miss you already, Ray!
The kids were exhausted on Saturday (and cranky). Ed had to work so I took the kids outside to play to keep them entertained:
Ev only wanted to nap on me that afternoon:
Ev only wanted to nap on me that afternoon:
Other than Friday with my brother, this week really got to me. On Sunday I was dying to get out of the house for some "me" time which is very rare. I always feel so guilty leaving the kids home with Ed, plus I never want to miss any time with them as a family because we usually have so much fun. If I didn't get out of the house I was going to lose it though. So I called up Karina and treated her to coffee as we listened to each other complain about motherhood knowing that neither of us would judge one another. We sat on this big leather couch, looking at all the creative art surrounding us, sipped our hot coffees and it felt like therapy. It was the perfect way to end a stressful week:
This week was rough and I know that next week has some definite obstacles in it, but I know we will survive!
Until next time! :)
