If you follow my blog, you may have read that we've been gearing up to re-vamp Tenley's room a bit. If I had it my way her room would be black and white with touches of blush and gold sparkles, but girlfriend is all about "Disney princesses" so the more color the better! Plus, I think it's fun to let her choose since it's her room after all, I guess. We were too lazy to re-paint (since it felt like we just painted) so I gave her a few sheet options to match her aqua and white walls. She picked this adorable mermaid sheet set and I picked a neutral quilt to go over it for when she gets sick of mermaids. Now we can change out the sheets without having to buy everything over again. Smart, right?
I had my heart set on this Jenny Lind bed from The Land of Nod, but with shipping it was way too expensive so I searched everywhere for a similar bed. We finally found one on Etsy after waiting almost a month for it to arrive. It was less than half the price and well worth the wait. Once the bed arrived we (well, Ed) got to work on re-vamping her old dresser. He sanded the whole thing and changed it from a dark chocolate with silver pull knobs to white with gold pull knobs. Poor Tenley had no idea where her furinute went and why no one was allowed in the garage for a whole week, but it was well worth the confusion. Once everything air dried for a few days we snuck everything in her room while the kids played so nicely together in the play room; which never happens (like ever). Once it was all in, I got to work on making the bed and adding some finishing touches.
We were all set for the big reveal, for the most part, and Tenley couldn't have been more surprised, excited and appreciative:
Heck, the bed is so comfortable that everyone was pretty stoked about it:
Once we had a bit more time, we finished hanging everything just how we wanted it and couldn't be more happy with the finished product:
(Bedding- Pottery Barn Kids)
(Tassels are decor from T's 3rd birthday party. Bought from Studio Mucci on Etsy. 'i'm so fancy' sign from T.J.Maxx.)
(Bow Hooks- The Land of Nod)
(Sparkle sign from T.J.Maxx.)
(I bought this Aurora frame from a lady on a garage sale Facebook site for $10 bucks. When I saw it I knew I had to have it for Tenley, but I had no idea it would steal the show like it did!)
(White Paint is Sherwin Williams- Alabaster.)
First of all, the room is incredible, obvi, but can we just touch on how my first born baby is in this massive bed?! How does that happen? We lay in bed with her before bed time and she asks us to play "shadow puppies", have a "sleep over" and reads us the Brown Bear book she made every night. Since when can she talk like this and have room for sleep overs? It just doesn't feel right for her to be this big so soon...for her to be turning 4 this month (in exactly 19 days, but who's counting?). These milestones are coming too soon for this momma's liking, but I sure am happy to be her mommy!
I hope you never outgrow this room, Tenley Bear!
