Spring Break started great with the kids, they all slept in and two of them even weaseled their way into bed with me:
Minutes after waking up, Wes decided he wasn't going to have a good day and threw tantrum after tantrum. I finally got him to settle down and let him beat me in connect 4:
My mom sent the kids an Easter package and had this cutie tucked inside for me:
(Thanks, Ma! Love you!)
I was determined to not let Tuesday be so full of tantrums. The kids are so much happier outside (and I am, too), so we went hiking even though it was pretty windy outside:
The wind kicked my allergies into high gear, but sure did make these kids happy:
Tenley had my phone and was "timing us" during our hike down the hill. She yelled, "mom, I'm taking your picture!" and, of course, I couldn't give her a typical smile and she couldn't take a picture without her thumb in the frame:
Tuesday nights at CNA are pretty great! Wes loves ice skating so we love watching him learn more and more each week:
The kids were ready for Easter crafts before breakfast Wednesday morning. On the menu: egg sun catchers:
After breakfast, we headed to see the Easter Bunny. I asked Ed if he cared if I took the kids to see the Easter Bunny without him and he said no. I don't know why I even asked because the whole time when I was getting them ready I kept asking myself, "for what?" Why do I stress myself out over these overpriced pictures that I'm going to lose by next Easter anyways? It's tradition, I guess, and the kids sure love that damn rabbit. The lady couldn't stop taking pictures because they were smiling ear-to-ear:
After hammin' it up for the Easter Bunny, we got Panera and took it to the park to eat before we played for a bit:
The kids got Easter packages from Aunt Julie & Uncle Bill and Grammy & Pop Pop and were pretty stoked about it:
(Thanks you guys!! We love you!!)
I've slowly been going blonder and finally reached where I want to be. I feel like I'm back in High School and it's so true... blondes DO have more fun:
Technically it's "Spring Break" for all of the kids, but the twins were supposed to have school Tuesday, Thursday and Friday as a sort of pay-back since the new school wasn't complete in the beginning of the school year. I planned on keeping them home because I wanted to get all the time with them (and sleep in), but Miss Marsha told me they were doing an Easter Egg Hunt on Thursday and Tenley could be the "Helper" for the morning. I let it be up to them and you know Tenley wasn't letting this opportunity go! Off they went to school on Spring Break and had so much fun:
When they got home they wanted to craft some more so the kids painted wooden Easter eggs (best thing ever because we get to keep them forever now) and made our beautiful Easter centerpiece:
I spent the entire day cleaning the house on Friday. Like, really cleaning. The kids helped fill the eggs for our annual Easter egg hunt, helped me find the letters and fill in our letter board, and helped finish decorating:
That afternoon, we got a gift card from Aunt Donna & Uncle Chris. Whenever we get these in the mail we kinda melt and get giddy inside:
(Thanks so much!! We love you!!)
I taught Saturday morning and instantly knew my "allergies" were worse than I thought. My throat was on fire and I wanted nothing more than to sleep the day away. Instead, I spent the day finishing getting ready for our party and once the kids were asleep the Easter Bunny, a.k.a. Ed, hid the kid's baskets:
The kids walked right past the baskets in the morning, but quickly spotted them. It was a good idea putting them up high because I got to get out of bed slowly; which helped since I felt like I was dying and made my coffee before everyone even got their goodies:
The kids have been wanting scooters and we've been wanting to get them some for walks to the park so this was perfect timing. Their baskets were filled with all the crap kids love: bubbles, chalk, kites, candy, etc.:
You may know that Ev is slightly obsessed with LOL Dolls. Well, this entire time she's just wanted Center Stage. She has so many, but never seemed to be lucky enough to get Center Stage. When Ed and I stumbled across all these Glitter LOL balls when Easter Basket shopping we shuffled them around and changed our pick several times! Here's who she got:
Luke had pink eye and Sailor had a fever and cough. All of our guests' immune systems were low and I wasn't sure what I was dealing with so we cancelled our annual Easter party; which bummed me out like no other. I had all this fun stuff planned for the kids and wanted so badly to cook, but Ed did it all for me. He even wore bunny ears as I faked a smile for a minute and pretended like I was helping in the kitchen. It did help me realize how lucky I am to have him, even if I couldn't taste his food:
The kids agreed to wait to do our egg hunt with prizes until we could do it with our friends and we did a little egg hunt with candy filled eggs instead:
After our little egg hunt the kids played with their new bubbles and frisby in the beautiful evening weather:
The end of our evening ended with Ev's eye oozing with green goo. Girlfriend went to Quick Care and yupp, you guessed it-- pink eye. Must be going around because we hadn't even seen Luke! How does that even happen? Our Easter was definitely not picture perfect. I felt like a zombie, the pink eye; which was destined to spread, but ya know what? It could've been worse! Everyone had baskets full of goods, bellies full of food and candy, smiles on their faces and a bed to sleep in. Sounds like we killed it to me.
Thanks to everyone who sent the kids (and us) cards to show that you were thinking of us! We appreciate it and love you all!
Hope everyone had a blessed Easter! :)
