Can you believe my babies are one month old already? It's hard for me to believe that we've already had them in our lives for four whole weeks. I could cry when I think about how fast this past month has gone by. The saddest part about how quick our days are going is that we've been having such an amazing time and we just want it to slow down a bit. Life with our newest additions couldn't honestly be any better and it's crazy how much they've changed already.
To recap their growth over the first month, lets begin with the little lady of the bunch...
Weight: 9 lbs 3 oz (Birth: 6 lbs 13 oz)
Height: 20 in (Birth: 19 in)
Height: 20 in (Birth: 19 in)
Clothing Size: Newborn
Diaper Size: 1
Miss Evie is just thee sweetest little thing I've ever laid my eyes on. Dainty, fragile and sweet are words I'd use to describe the littlest peanut in our house. But don't let her daintiness fool you because she is one strong cookie. She loves playing on her play mat and doing tummy time like a champ. Her neck is very strong and she can hold it up for a long time. At three weeks old, she rolled onto her back from her belly...crazy right?! I was in pure disbelief as I wasn't expecting that for months. Aside from being amazingly strong, Evie Cakes is very observant. She's always wide-eyed; which has earned her the nickname "Crazy Eyes", and making kissy faces. You can't help but smother her with kisses when you see those big beautiful eyes and pouty lips. She is such a sound sleeper and unlike her brother, she would sleep all night if we'd let her. She is content with laying by herself and putting herself to sleep (although we rarely let that happen). She's been a pro-breastfeeder since day one and loves to stare at her brother while nursing- it's simply the sweetest. We really haven't found anything that she's opposed to. She's a go with the flow type of gal and we couldn't be happier about it.
Now onto Mister Man...
Weight: 11 lbs 2 oz(Birth: 7 lbs 15 oz)
Height: 23 in (Birth: 21.25 in)
Clothing Size: 0-3 months
Diaper Size: 1
Wes is the squishiest little man you've ever seen. Cuddly, chunky and hunky are just a few words that I'd use to describe the littlest man in our house. He isn't quite as strong as his big sister just yet; which I think is because he'd rather be cuddled than playing on the floor. He'll play on his play mat if he has his zebra (he is a big fan of black and white objects) or blinking lights to stare at. His neck is getting really strong and he is starting to be able to hold it up without flopping all over the place. At three weeks old, he also rolled onto his back from his belly and he is now a pro at it. I can't leave him alone anywhere because he just rolls right over; it's nuts. Wes is the chunkier of the two and he has cheeks for days. I could squeeze those chunky cheeks ALL day. He is quite possibly thee noisiest sleeper ever. At night you'll often hear us referring to him as a gremlin or minion because he makes the craziest noises all night. That noisy little boy needs to be cuddled to be put to sleep and sleeps so soundly if he is on Mommy or Daddy's chest. Breastfeeding Wes has been a little bit more challenging as he doesn't have the best latch, but he is still doing good. He is just the sweetest little boy and we're beyond in love with him.
I prayed every night that these babies would be calm and so far they have been (fingers crossed that I didn't just jinx it). If you happen to see tears in their eyes, it is likely because they're hungry, need their diaper changed or want to be swaddled super tight. It is amazing how different they are from their big sister. So far they haven't been colicky, like Tenley, so we haven't given them pacifiers. They nap so good in their Rock 'n Play sleepers throughout the day and Wes wakes up about every 3 hours at night so I wake Ev up to nurse her, too. Both of them love bath time and love when we drip water on their bellies. They are so chill and we couldn't possibly have more fun with them.
It has taken Tenley awhile to warm up to her new brother and sister (especially Ev), but she has started to settle into her role quite nicely. She likes to help change their diapers and loves to help give them baths; which is more like splashing water in their faces and laughing hysterically about it. She also likes to shush them when they're crying and will even pat their bellies while saying, "it k bay-bee" and if it's time for baths and they're sleeping she'll say, "wake up bay-bee"- it's incredibly sweet. The babies love when she holds them and loves on them; which makes this Momma's heart incredibly full.
Ev and Wes joining our family has been the greatest blessing. They are the most peaceful babies and just couldn't be any sweeter. Since we brought them home, Tenley has slowly turned into this loving, helpful, proud big sister and it has brought Ed and I closer together in ways that we never saw coming. I've never been happier in my life and I truly feel that it couldn't be more perfect. I can only imagine how wonderful our future with our family of five will be.
Happy one month birthday, Everly and Wesley!!
