Isla started swim lessons last week and was doing really well in them. Since Tenley has been interested in swimming more I joined the wait-list for Isla's 9am class and we actually got in the following week. Tenley started on Monday and was pretty eager and daring for her first day. She swam around like a fish and even went under, although I did hear her say, "I need to go talk to mommy" after she went under because I think she was a little scared. All in all it was a good first day and Ev loved exploring the new scenery while Wes hung out in a swing the entire time:
Tenley got herself dressed for swim lessons on Tuesday and wore her favorite dress:
Day 2 of swim lessons didn't go as well because she was extremely nervous about getting her face wet and did not want to use the kick board. Although she was scared the teachers still got her to participate a little bit. The twins discovered the desert tortoises; which kept them pretty localized during sissy's class:
The twins were so exhausted from the heat that they didn't want to do anything but lay around when we got home:
We had to make a Target run after naps and Ev found these awesome gems:
Tenley was still really scared of the water on Wednesday, but was learning how to hold on to the edge of the pool and kick her legs. All 3 turtles were out so the twins loved waving and saying 'hello' to the turtles. Being out in the sun lead to early naps and relaxation time for everyone:
Wes woke up really early on Thursday so we played with gel clings quietly:
Before leaving for Tenley's swim lesson the twins were busy giving each other kisses and melting my heart:
Tenley was still skeptical of the water on Thursday. She definitely wasn't going under or attempting to blow bubbles. I don't know what triggered her fear of the water, but it was disheartening to see, especially since I've always loved the water and looked forward to her loving it, too. Wes and Ev went back and forth between watching Tenley swim and watching the turtles eat their breakfast, giving mommy a workout in the heat:
When we got home the kids were in a good mood so we played with bubbles outside before nap time:
After eating lunch Ev got to the point of being too tired and wouldn't go down for her nap because she was just too exhausted (makes sense right?). The only way I got her to finally fall asleep was to stand and rock her in my arms:
The twins were up early Friday, but luckily they just relaxed and kept each other company on the couch:
Since Ed had Friday off for the 4th of July we went to Pottery Barn Kids to buy the kids some new beach towels and the kids had so much fun "shopping". Tenley was obsessed with all the girly rooms and kept climbing in the bunk beds and saying, "this is my room!" She loved that the room had a table and chairs to have a tea party with "her friends" and loved the rocking unicorn they had. She also kept sitting at the desk and said, "this is where I do my study." Evie loved this tiny stuffed unicorn they had and the twins had fun pushing around a tea cart and playing with a wooden fire station. We went there for towels, but also got a lot of good Christmas gift ideas, too:
Tenley and Ed went on a date to see Inside Out Friday afternoon. Ed liked it, but thought it was a little sad for a kid's movie, while Tenley was a little skeptical about it...she was more concerned about Disgust's hair style and facial expressions. Either way, these two cuties had a great date:
While Daddy/Daughter date was under way I got to relax a bit until Wessie Boy woke up, then we FaceTimed Chelsea. We laughed, cried, laughed again and gave each other kisses:
My sweet mother-in-law knows me oh so well and sent me a surprise in the mail...these adorable outdoor iron flamingos:
(Thanks so much!! They are so me!!)
After dinner Tenley helped me make red, white and blue Jello cups for the 4th of July:
We capped off our Friday night with a game of indoor bowling:
We had the BEST 4th of July!!
It was only 99 degrees on Sunday; which is much cooler than it's been recently so we took advantage of it by playing in the backyard. Tenley introduced Wes to the slide and that boy was hooked! He kept pushing his way through and going down over and over again:
Tenley was being so silly and kept saying she was "posing like a princess" and wanted me to take her picture:
(This was her posing like Rapunzel climbing her tower.)
We played some old school music on Ed's phone (until sweet Ev nonchalantly chucked it into the rocks cracking the screen...you gotta watch that one!) and the kids went nuts when 'Can't Touch This' and 'Blame It On the Rain' came on:
Until next week! :)
