Monday was a big day at our house- it was Tenley's first day of Preschool! Since she already went last year, she was very excited to go again this year. School started later than usual since the parents were invited to bring the kiddos so we could be there to help with any first day of school jitters, then go over the school year with Miss Marsha. Siblings weren't allowed as it was just a day to focus on Tenley so Ed stayed home with the twins. Tenley couldn't get out the door fast enough once she was ready:
After taking the cutest pics ever for me because she just wanted to go to school, we headed to school and arrived 15 minutes early. We sat in the car since we were the first people to arrive and talked about how excited we were for the school year. Once I saw other cars arriving we got out and Tenley was glued to the car, suddenly got nervous and did not want to go in until her friend, Addysen, arrived. I talked her into going in when she saw a boy go in that was her "boyfriend" apparently. She instantly felt right at home when Miss Linda and Miss Marsha greeted her with the warmest hugs. They are seriously the sweetest teachers and I'm so grateful to know that she is in such great hands! The kids quickly got to work on some puzzles:
This year's school theme is "Put On A Happy Face" and I couldn't love it any more! I love how Miss Marsha makes learning so much fun for the kids. She went over this simple exercise for their first week with the parents and you'd be amazed at all the learning activities that go into it for the kids...things you wouldn't even think of! It's amazing. The parents even got to do some small activities to decorate their school bag and folder. Tenley picked a green bag (since they didn't have pink), traced her circle for a smiley face, then put a happy face on it and decorated it with some curly hair and what she says is a "bow". She got to pick a pink folder and packed it with only the shimmery smiley faces "because those are just the best":
They went around singing songs to introduce themselves and the friend sitting next to them. Tenley really loved when she got to shout "TENLEY" to the whole class to introduce herself:
After nap/relaxation time we went swimming at Pat's with the Rices. The water was perfect and we had so much fun watching our daredevils in the pool:
While Tenley was in school on Wednesday we took the twins to Sunset Park and had so much fun with them. They love birds (unlike Tenley) and they kept chasing the birdies around the park and even found this cool bird that I'm guessing was a Roadrunner because that sucker was fast! It's weird being at the park without Tenley because it's much quieter, but we are running in all different ways because when Tenley is around they usually just follow her. I do enjoy the alone time I get with them, though. It's fun to see them experience new things and create their own opinion on it:
After the park, I picked Tenley up and she was so excited about the smiley face she made at school and wanted to show it off:
That afternoon we got in preparation mode for Ed's 31st birthday. Tenley was throwing Daddy a "Paw Patrol party since Marshal is his faaaavorite!" She insisted on making Daddy a cake, but I explained that strawberry pie was his favorite so we went all Betty Crocker in the kitchen and whipped up Grammy's strawberry pie recipe; which Tenley said was perfect because "it's red like Marshal's hat." She had so much fun helping out in the kitchen; which made it the best strawberry pie ever:
Thursday was Ed's 31st birthday and the kids were so excited (to dig into sissy's pie):
After chowing down on some strawberry pie, we took the kids to the park to burn off some of that sugar:
(Notice Wes' face plant because he got so excited about chasing the soccer ball...)
Ed had a relaxing day and said it was perfect! Tenley also said she had so much fun at Daddy's Marshal birthday party so I guess it was a pretty good day. Happy birthday, Ed!! We love you to pieces!!
This year, Tenley has school 3 days a week (for 2 hours each day) and she was pretty excited to find out she had school on Friday morning:
Since Ev peed on the potty last week we took the twins to pick out undies and a potty seat, just to get them thinking about it. Wes picked out a Mickey and Friends seat and matching undies, while Ev picked out some Frozen panties, of course. When we got home they were so excited about their new undies and potty seat that we kind of wondered if maybe they were ready:
It was time to pick Tenley up and she came home with the silliest face:
When Tenley found out that I washed undies for the twins she insisted that she was going to potty train them. When Ev wanted to pee on the potty last week I was so caught off guard that I loudly exclaimed, "Tenley, Ev just peed on the potty!" and she came running down the hall screaming, "YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!! GOOD JOB, EVIE!!" Granted, I know she had good intentions and was just excited for her sweet little sister, but shy, reserved Evie was terrified and instantly began to bawl her eyes out in fear; which is so unlike her. I instantly took her off the potty and comforted her, but thought that potty training may now be a bit of a challenge with her. Since we had the tools to actually give it a try now, we decided what the heck since we had nothing else to do. Well, it started off rocky with Wes...he went through all 3 of his chonies right off the bat so we figured naked was the way to go (like we did with Tenley). Then, he started to get good and actually peed in the potty 3 times, but poor Evie was holding hers in all evening. It was so funny hearing Tenley "potty training" them, "Wessie kept that thing down!" and "don't hold it Evie. Just let it go!" It was the longest day ever giving this a go...potty training twins with a toddler is not ideal and frankly even if they were ready we're not because it's just too stressful at the moment. Yeah, yeah, whatever. I suck, but I still need babies anyways. In the meantime, I got this gem of a picture and it just may be my favorite picture of them EVER:
Taking one to the potty, while trying to cook, while asking the other if they had to use the potty, while telling Tenley to put her brother down had me feeling all Britney Spears circa 2007:
(Don't worry, Brit, I still love you.)
Not only did T start her 2nd year of preschool this week, but she also started her 2nd year of tap/ballet class and she was so excited. Best part about it is that the class is full of all the same girls so they all know each other and were so happy to see each other, again. They danced their little hearts out and were just the cutest little ballerinas:
The kids played dress up after naps and looked so cute:
We went grocery shopping Sunday morning and Tenley insisted on wearing her Cinderella tiara:
Tenley usually doesn't get homework at her preschool, but Miss Marsha gave me this adorable 'All About Me' to work on with Tenley this week. We're supposed to stagger out when we bring them back so each kid can present theirs in front of the class. Tenley and I had a lot of fun doing this together and her answers had me cracking up. I love that she included Pearl in her family picture and also included her BFFs. The thing that melts me the most is that her perfect day includes her Grammy, Pop Pop, Grandma Cat and Grandpa Jim. Best believe I'll be stalking Miss Marsha for this at the end of the year:
What a fun filled week that is sure to bring many adventures throughout the rest of the year!
Until next time! :)
