Little Evie has been busy head-banging...literally. Girlfriend loves to bang her head on doors when she isn't getting her way and Monday mornings head-banging session left her with a bruise on her forehead:
This week Tenley was learning all about the letter 'Z'. They made a shirt with a zipper that had zebra stripes and she also made me a pretty picture:
Luckily, after a rough morning I got some alone time when the twins took a long nap:
When Daddy got home we took the kids (and MiMi) for a run, but only managed to make it a mile before the kids decided they had enough:
Tenley got herself ready Tuesday morning and looked so beautiful:
We had plans to meet the Medrano gang at the park, but it was surprisingly cold and windy. Since I already had the kids in the car we went to Dunkin' Donuts and swung by Target to pick up 'The Good Dinosaur':
The Medranos came to our place to hang and the kids had so much fun together. Tenley especially loved when everyone let her do their makeup:
Addy and T sang a song they learned at school while Evie tried to keep up with them:
FedEx finally delivered my favorite wine, La Fantasia, that Ed bought me for Valentine's Day. When I opened the door I greeted the man by saying, "ohh I've been waiting for you!" I could not wait to open the box and admire these beauts:
The kids painted a masterpiece and I got in some yoga when Ed got home:
The twins and I went to the park Wednesday morning while Tee-Tee was at school. Ev and Wes could've rolled their balls down the hill and walked up and down the stairs all day:
The Stephens girls met us at the park and the girls looked like triplets in their matching Shelby Chic crocheted wraps. The kids ran a muck and had so much fun together, while Jess and I nearly lost our minds (and a kid...or two) trying to keep up with them:
While we were at the park, Tenley practiced her numbers and shapes:
Being at the park for 2 hours really wore out the twins. Wes passed out and Ev didn't fall asleep until she had her hand on Wes. They snuggled up into each other and just melted my heart:
Wednesday was Pop Pop's birthday and the kids were beyond excited to "bake him a cake". We FaceTimed him and the girls sang 'Happy Birthday' as they held his cake:
(Happy birthday, Pop Pop! We love you!)
Tenley helped me make homemade cornbread for our BBQ chicken dinner:
Once Ed was home and dinner was in the oven I went for my longest run ever. I ran a mile, walked a mile and ran another mile and a half. I had the best weather and was really happy that I broke my running record:
Apparently you are supposed to ease into running; which I thought I had, but my knees said otherwise. I was in so much pain Wednesday night and woke up feeling like I was crippled. Luckily, the kids played so sweetly together Thursday morning and gave me a little break, so to speak:
We also spent time in the backyard with lots and lots of bubbles; which made the kids very happy:
Tenley has mastered pumping and would swing all day if I let her; it is truly her happy place:
The kids were up so early Friday morning that we managed to fit in some play time with Pearl outside:
Learning about the letter 'Z' continued on Friday and T brought home a zig zag that she painted with a zucchini:
Tenley really missed her baby bro while at school and gave him lots of lovins when she got home:
I had the best view during nap time:
Ev took a short nap and I loved the extra cuddles I got from her:
The girls and I made homemade pizza for dinner and Wes joined us just as we added the bacon so he could taste test it (typical boy):
After dinner we headed to the Downtown Container Park so I could pick up my very first race packet for Saturday morning's Color Run. While finding a parking spot we spotted the coolest street art and Ed snapped some pics of the kids and I before heading to pick up my race packet:
The Container Park was a full on celebration for The Color Run. The kids played on the massive slides, danced to the band and especially loved the giant-sized cotton candy that they were serving up:
Erin and I headed downtown bright and early Saturday morning and we were so excited to get doused with color as we ran:
Erin, who's an avid runner, ran at my pace so that we could have fun running together. And it really was so much fun running through the different color zones downtown. She kept checking on me since she knew my knees were bothering me, but I managed to run the entire time and keep a good pace (9'42''/mile). We finished in 29 minutes and had a blast! I could totally see how people run half marathons because I hate running, but the whole time I kept saying in my head, "keep up the pace! Don't let them pass you! Pass them!" It's such a rush. I loved it and am so glad I got to do it with a friend:
All week Tenley had been asking me about the race. I explained to her how everyone starts at the same time and runs to the finish line. She was convinced that I was going to cross the finish line first, even though it was my first time. She kept saying, "I know you could do it, Mommy!" It was the sweetest thing and really was the reason why I didn't stop running the whole time. I couldn't wait to get home and give Tenley my medal. When I got home Ed and the kids had a surprise for me, too... 42 roses! I was blown away and cried because I was so happy. I felt proud of myself for running, but felt beyond blessed to have such amazing support. Although it was only 3 miles, they made me feel like I completed a marathon (and like I'm the luckiest girl in the world):
After the race, I quickly showered so I could go to Tenley Bear's dance class. We all went to watch and Ev stood by the door copying the girl's moves. The girls are working hard on their recital and I was happy we got to see the routine:
My knees were killing me Sunday, but I didn't want to torture the family by keeping them inside when it was so beautiful outside. Since we were all up so early, we headed to The Coffee Cup for breakfast. The kids enjoyed riding the horsey and flattening pennies before we ate a delicious breakfast:
After breakfast we went to Hemingway Park, but were bummed that none of the sheep were there. Wes kept saying, "Seep?" the whole time and was so bummed, but we still got to enjoy the gorgeous day together so I'll mark it in the win column:
Until next time! :)
