Twin Gender Reveal

My in-laws have been to Vegas approximately 35 times to visit since we've moved to Vegas about 8 years ago. I'm always trying to think of fun, new and exciting things to do when they're in town. Since my in-laws, GiGi, Aunt Jan, Aunt Sue and Amanda were here when I hit the 15 week mark in my pregnancy, we decided it would be fun to take them to a 4D ultrasound appointment to see the twins and find out the sex of the little bears. Then I thought, "well if they're all here we might as well throw a party for the big reveal, too!" We decided early on that we wanted to be surprised at the gender reveal party along with everyone else so the time leading up until the party had me super anxious, nervous and excited!

We headed to 4D Baby at 10am and were sooo excited to see the twins and guess their genders:

Apparently some of our family members thought that by going to the ultrasound they could get the tech to spill the beans, but that was not the case. We explained to the tech that none of us could know the genders and that we wanted the gender pictures to be sealed so no one could find out. She made sure to only show us the twins from the waist up.

Baby A (the closest to my cervix) was covering it's face and being totally stubborn; acting just like Tenley did in her ultrasounds:

Then that lil' stubborn one starting punching peaceful Baby B in the back of the head:

Baby B just chilled, sucked it's thumb, and smiled through the beating it was receiving from Baby A:

Our lil' womb-mates were just too cute as they cuddled up to each other:

Baby A measured in at 15 weeks 5 days, while Baby B measured a bit bigger at 16 weeks 5 days. The tech said that their measurements were great because they are around the same size; which means they are both getting the proper amount of food and one isn't stealing from the other. (They're already good at sharing!)

After seeing the twins for a bit, she checked for the genders. I covered my eyes and everyone in the room had to turn around so they couldn't see either. The tech put the gender pictures in a sealed envelope and wrote her initials on the seal and said, "I even wrote my initials on it so there wouldn't be any funny business!" She couldn't believe that Ed and I weren't going to find out until the party, but we wanted to be just as surprised as everyone at the party. What type of reveal would it be if we already knew, anyways?! I starred at the sealed envelope the entire drive home:

Since Tenley is obsessed with balloons we figured the balloons-in-a-box reveal would be the most fun for her to participate in. After Ed dropped us off at home, he took the sealed envelope to Party City and asked them if they could fill the boxes according to the genders in the sealed envelope while he ran some errands. Ed picked up the sealed boxes about an hour later and the lady who filled them taped the ultrasound pics inside the boxes so Ed wouldn't know. At this point, the only people who knew the genders were the 4D tech and the lady at Party City. The suspense was killing us!

The twins gender reveal party was set for 3pm and I got more and more anxious by the second. To pass the time, I finished decorating for the party:

We asked that everyone dress according to their prediction (blue for boys, pink for girls, or yellow for both) and tallied the teams up as our guests arrived:

Team Blue:

Team Pink:
(Ed tried not to get his hopes up for a boy so he kept telling me we were having 2 girls!)

Team Yellow:

Everyone was there and the time had finally come! We had the Robbins on FaceTime and attempted to FaceTime my family, but couldn't get through.

Tenley was getting super anxious and just wanted to know what was in the boxes:

FINALLY, we ripped open the boxes:

(Ed making sure there was no pink in the blue box!)

Watch it all unfold in this video caught by Karina:

Words can't even express how beyond shocked, thrilled and excited I was when the balloons popped out. I had dreamt that I gave birth to a girl and boy, but NEVER thought I would be so lucky! When we were trying to get pregnant we decided that if we had another girl her name would be Everly and if we had a boy his name would be Wesley. Then, when we found out we were having twins we decided if it were one of each we would name them Wesley and Everly. We didn't have names picked out if it were two boys or two girls so it worked out perfectly!

After the reveal was over we were able to relax with our family and friends. Everyone finally dug into the food since the suspense was gone and the kiddos had fun releasing the balloons and playing with each other:

The day couldn't have been more perfect! We're so blessed to have been able to share this exciting moment with so many awesome people. Thanks to everyone who made the day so special for us and a special thanks to my amazing friend, Lindsay, who made thee most adorable signs for the boxes, banners and cupcake decorations (She's the best crafter I know! Check out some of her stuff at https://www.facebook.com/RiceandRye). We are so excited to add another girl and our first boy to our family!

Let the excessive shopping begin!

  1. I love the decorations and the chevron style. May I ask where you purchased the chevron wrap for the boxes and the banner? My daughter is expecting twins and love the pink, blue and yellow idea.

    Thanks
