Mother's Day was just an ordinary day this year, except my in-laws were arriving that morning and I woke up to a bunch of great gifts, too. Tenley Bear bought me this adorable necklace with her name and birthstone, Ed got me a really cool picture frame for our fireplace and got my rings re-sized and rhodium plated, and my mom sent me a super cute wallet and purse that is my favorite color- green:
(Thanks guys!! You sure made me feel special.)
This year, I opted out of breakfast in bed because I wanted Egg Works...duh! Tenley and I got dressed up for breakfast and did a little cheesin' for the camera:
After breakfast, I went to start the car with T on my hip and she made her way into the driver seat and thought it was sooo cool:
Then, Tenley drove us to the park we made our way over to O'Callaghan Park:
After a busy morning, Tenley Bear was down for the count:
Grandma and Grandpa made it safe and sound from Ohio and surprised Tenley when she woke up from her nap. At first she didn't even notice that Grammy was there (cause she was still half alseep), but as soon as she realized she was at the end of the bed her whole face lit up. After T gave Grammy her Mother's Day gift, we headed to Lake Mead since my in-laws had never been there. Tenley had fun playing in the sand and building sand castles with her new princess sand castle mold:
Since there were so many boats out for Mother's Day the lake was pretty dirty, but we made the most of the beautiful day:
We headed back to our house for a filet mignon dinner with the entire fam and of course no celebration would be complete without a red velvet cake from Nothing Bundt Cake:
I had a great Mother's Day and we were so blessed to be able to spend the day with my mother-in-law. My mother-in-law would give the shirt off her back to help out anyone in need and anyone who is honored to know her knows that she is a great woman and mother. She is always so encouraging and will always offer an ear when I'm having a rough day. She truly treats me like the daughter she never had and I am beyond grateful for her.
Unfortunately, we didn't get to celebrate the day with the woman who has made me the person and mother I am today. She is my biggest supporter, my motivation to be successful at whatever I put my mind to, the funniest person I know, and above all she is extremely selfless. I truly missed by Mom this Mother's day and was so happy when she sent me this picture:
(Like mother, like daughter. I can't wait to take a pic like this with Tenley someday!)
As a mother of 1 with a supportive husband, I can honestly say I underestimated how strong my mom is. My mom not only raised me, but she also raised my 3 older brothers. Some days I go crazy taking care of Tenley while Ed is off at work, then I think of all the craziness my brothers and I probably put my mom through. I honestly don't know how she did it all while working to put us all through Catholic school. Her strength amazes me and I am fortunate to call her my mother and best friend.
I believe I have thee greatest mother role models in my life, but more importantly, I am beyond blessed that Tenley gets to call these amazing women 'Grandma' or as Tenley says, "Ga-Ga". I can only hope that I can be half the Mother that they are. I pray that Tenley will someday feel that way about me.
Happy Mother's Day to all the amazing mommies out there!
