I met Karina at Well Rounded Momma's 'HypnoBirthing' class and with our due dates only 1 day apart for our girls we had lots to talk about and kept in touch throughout our pregnancies. After we both gave birth we started meeting for play dates and our girls quickly became BFFs. If I got anything from our 'HypnoBirthing' class, I'm glad I met one of my best friends there.
When Karina told me she was pregnant again, I was beyond thrilled for her. She is truly one of the best mommas I know and also the most patient. I remember seeing pictures of when she sliced open her gender reveal cake; which exposed pink frosting...ANOTHER GIRL!! Sofia would be a big sister and an amazing big sister at that!
Since Karina was having another girl, she decided that the slogan for her baby shower should be "Sugar and Spice" since after all, that's what little girls are made of. I sent out this invitation that went perfectly with her slogan:
After the invitations went out, the shower quickly approached. Since Karina's favorite foods are breakfast foods, I made breakfast egg bites and had a variety of sugar and spice items, such as: muffins, breakfast bread, donut kabobs, mini cinnamon rolls, and fruit...
...lemonade, orange juice, iced coffee, and water:
...sugar cookie favors:
...candy in a bottle guessing game with sunflower and daisy grow kits as prizes:
I made this banner for Baby Alena and decorated the outside with some pretty flowers:
The guests arrived and the celebration began:
We had a contest for the best wrapped gift card and we got some pretty clever ones! A gift card wrapped in a poopy (melted chocolate) diaper...
...a gift card in an oven, complete with a fresh bun, too:
...a teddy bear that held owl themed cards and a gift card:
...a gift card wrapped up in a pregnant belly:
...a gift card on a tissue stuffed "baby":
After Brandi's 'Bun in The Oven' gift card won the most creative award, Karina opened the rest of her gifts:
After baby Alena was showered with awesome gifts, Sofia was pretty pooped:
Tenley joined the party when the guests started to leave and gave Sofs a second wind:
Thanks to everyone who came to Karina's baby shower! You truly made the day special and I'm convinced that baby Alena is going to be surrounded by nothing but love. I feel honored to have been able to throw this shower for Karina and hope she will always remember it. I really enjoyed seeing some people I already knew and also meeting some new people. I can't wait to meet that little munch and smother her with kisses!
See ya soon, Alena!
