Total Cali Babes

Ed is such a hard worker that getting him to take a day off is next to impossible so the fact that I got him to request three days off (he already had Monday off for Labor Day) is nothing short of a miracle. I'm so incredibly glad I nagged and nagged him about it because it was a trip full of belly laughs, baby giggles, excitement, hugs, kisses, tears and tantrums, but an unforgettable vacation to say the least.

Ed and I got up at 3:45am on Monday to pack up the car and transfer the kiddos to their car seats. Sure enough everyone was ready to party when they realized we were finally on our way to Disneyland at 5am, but the excitement wore off after about an hour and the kids gave us a break for about 30 minutes:

We arrived at our first stop on the trip, Chick-fil-A in Tustin, California (14 miles from the beach), at 8:30am:

Once we were refueled, we headed to Newport Beach with our three little beach bums. We knew Tenley would love it since she's been there before, but we were unsure about the twins. Ed and I assumed that Wesley would have fun, but that Everly would be totally repulsed by the sand and not want a single grain to touch her angelic skin. We were spot on with Tenley. She instantly had her toys out, practiced throwing the sand like Elsa would, found seashells, looked for a-bashy (Sebastian), chased Scuttle, built sand castles, but the most surprising thing was that she loved jumping into the waves and kept wanting me to take her farther and farther into the ocean! Girlfriend is totally going to be a mermaid. Then, the biggest shocker of all was Wes and Ev...we could not stop them from eating the sand! They absolutely loved it. Go figure, I can't get them to eat the delicious food I make for them in my fancy Vitamix, but they'll shovel boat loads of dirty sand into their mouths like it's the most decadent chocolate EVER! We were cracking up. They were so into the sand that they were letting the water crash into them (Evie even caught a wave to the face) and didn't have a care in the world. We had the most fun and the kids looked like total Cali babes:

After playing on the beach for awhile, we met Linds, Mase, Isla, Sandi & Pat on the Newport Boardwalk to go to my favorite donut shop:

After eating the most delectable donuts we checked into our hotel and the twins experienced their first bath without their bath seats and loved it:

We were all ready for dinner at Downtown Disney:

We met The Rice Crew at Tortilla Jo's and Sandi treated us all to a delicious Mexican dinner:

(Thanks so much, Sandi!!)

After eating, we explored Downtown Disney and the girls were in awe of the awesome Lego store:

Day 1 of our trip was a total success! We're off to Disneyland and California Adventure tomorrow...see ya there! ;)
