The twins and I ran some errands Monday morning while Tenley was in school learning about the letter 'O' and it absolutely pooped the little boogers out:
After Ev napped, the girls played so sweetly together. Ev is getting to that age where she is into the same things as Tenley and they are developing such a strong bond that my heart could just explode:
Tenley FaceTimed Grandma Cath to open her birthday package. She was so excited and especially loved the Aurora doll:
(Thanks so much, mom!! We love you!!)
Tuesday was a rough day because the twins were so attached to me. I couldn't even get them to be away from me during their nap:
Since they were being very clingy and cranky, I gave them their gardening gloves and put them to work outside. We picked the weeds or shall I say they threw rocks in my bag as I weeded? Either way it gave my arms a break from lugging them around while I got some work done around the house:
Wednesday was picture day and I honestly don't think Tenley could've been more excited. I bought her dress for picture day in July because it was on sale and too perfect for picture day. Every morning that she picks out her school outfit she begs to wear her "apple twirly dress" so when she finally got to wear it she was ready to strut her stuff! If the pre-picture day picture looks like this, I know she's got this one in the bag:
I swear my kids are all going to do something in the fashion industry because they are all obsessed with clothes and accessories. When the twins saw Tenley getting dolled up they were instantly rummaging through their closet and throwing clothes on the floor. Since there were clothes everywhere I got them dressed to run errands, then we played outside while T was in school:
Tenley is very, very shy about telling me what she learns at school; which is bizarre because the girl can not stop talking to save her life! I think it's because she just likes to talk about what she wants to talk about. Most of the time I have to just pick up the pieces about what she learned by paying close attention to the songs she sings throughout the day and what stories she tells me. I knew she learned about the number '5' because the number was traced, cut out, glued on the paper and she made 5 spiders on the number. She told me her fingers were black at school and I had no idea why. Then later when I looked closer I realized that the spiders were actually her fingerprints and I was like, "Oh my gosh! How cool!":
We had a low-key Thursday as we prepared for our busy weekend and the kids were very good:
Since Tenley was going to miss school on Monday (her actual birthday) they were celebrating her birthday on Friday. I asked if I could bring Dunkin Donuts and Miss Marsha said, "of course!". Tenley was so excited for school and had to wear her new Aurora dress from Grandma Cath because she said they were having an "Aurora party" for her. She made me buy a dozen sprinkle donuts for her class because "they all like rainbow sprinkles!" I got an extra assorted dozen just in case there were a few that didn't:
Of course I had to get 2 rainbow sprinkle donuts for the twins to try when we got home and Tenley was right...everyone does love rainbow sprinkles! The twins delicately picked the sprinkles off one by one, then licked off the chocolate and finally took a few bites. They were such a mess, but it's impossible to get them to sit in one single spot so I just let them be little and do their thing. Some day I will have perfectly clean floors/carpets and wish there was chocolate and sprinkles all over, right? They had fun and that's all that matters. When they were done I asked them where the donuts went and they kept pointing to their bellies and I was cracking up:
After school we did our usual FaceTime routine (girlfriend has to call both grandparents every night), but this night she especially wanted to show off her birthday crown from school:
We went to the park Saturday morning to celebrate Stella's first birthday and the kids had so much fun playing at a park that they've never been to before:
(Happy birthday, Stelly!!)
I didn't plan on having a party for Tenley's 4th birthday since we were taking her to Disneyland as her "party", but she kept saying things like, "are my friends from school going to be at my party?", "are my friends going to sing happy birthday to me" and "are my friends going to play with me at my party?" It started to break my heart that she wasn't going to have something with all of her friends, so we decided we'd have a little park playdate or "flamingle", if you will. If baby wants to play and eat cake with her friends, so be it, right? Girlfriend has simple needs! I made homemade pepperoni rolls, cheese rolls, etc., got fruit & veggies, a cake and cupcakes from Vons and made the decorations myself. It was the perfect little get together and Tenley was so happy to see everyone:
Thanks so, so much to everyone who came and made her birthday so special! To those that brought presents that weren't supposed to- thank you! And those that sent presents and cards from Ohio- thank you, as well! After Tenley opened her presents I said something like, "thanks for the gifts; you guys weren't supposed to because she has so much already!" and Tenley cut me off and said, "thank you guys! I have the greatest friends!" It is moments like those that I know we are doing something right because she is such a sweetheart that my heart swells with joy when I look at the beautiful young lady she is becoming. I hope she always stays so appreciative. I'm so proud to be her mommy and can't wait to watch her grow even more!
We celebrated Tenley's birthday even more in California on Sunday. We spent the morning in Laguna Beach and the rest of the day at Mickey's Halloween Party!
Stay tuned for more of our Disneyland trip!! :)
