I had been thinking of "gender neutral" birthday themes for the twin's first birthday party for months. Since their birthday is in January I wanted to do something inside that would be fun and cozy. I'm pretty confident I came up with the best theme ever for their first birthday and it all came together perfectly- Camp Double Trouble. As always, Linds made the invitations and they honestly couldn't have been more perfect:
The dining room ledge was decorated with pictures of the birthday babes and their first year facts:
(A very special thanks to Lindsay (Rice + Rye) for custom designing the most adorable invitation and decorations for the twins birthday! You truly out did yourself, as always!)
The treat table was covered with delicious goods: the most adorable cake from Freed's, dirt cups, s'more pops, buckeyes, fruit skewers, fire logs, ants on a log and favors filled with Danielle's white chocolate covered popcorn. It was almost too adorable to touch, but too delicious not to:
In the kitchen, we had even more delicious food such as, chili, spinach dip, cheese calzones and a hot chocolate and coffee bar with all the fixins:
All of our hard work paid off because the house was ready for Camp Double Trouble to begin and so were the Camp Leaders:
We took advantage of the calm before the storm and took some family photos before all of our guests arrived:
Our guests started to arrive and we quickly began to eat, while the kids played and had a blast bouncing in the bounce house:
After everyone ate, the kids opened presents and, boy oh boy, did they get some awesome gifts:
(Thanks for all the amazing gifts! Special thanks to those gifts sent all the way from Ohio! Thanks for remembering us!)
Next, was the best part about first birthdays...THE CAKE!! Ev was her prim and proper self about eating her cake, of course. So typical, but we for sure thought that Wes wasn't going to be into it at all since he isn't a big eater, but boy were we wrong! After Ed surprise dunked Wes' head into his smash cake twice to get him going he went nuts and ended up picking up his cake and putting his head into it. Watching them eat their cakes was definitely my favorite part about their birthday party:
While the babes continued to chow down on their cakes, Ed dished out delicious cake for everyone else:
Everything was just perfect and I don't even know how to begin thanking everyone who helped make Everly and Wesley's first birthday possible.
First, I have to thank my right hand man:
Gosh Ed, I don't know how I could have gotten through this year without you...we did it! Without you I wouldn't have been able to exclusively breastfeed the twins so well and juggle so many things. So cheers to us as well for successfully raising twins with a toddler, while still loving each other so well. You're the best!
Thanks to my family for flying in early to make this party possible. Thanks for helping me bake, cook, clean and take care of my hooligans. Most importantly, thanks for always providing us with unconditional support across so many miles and still making us feel so loved. We are extremely lucky to have you all!
Our dear friends...this year could not have been possible without you! Thanks for always willing to lend a hand (or arm) and a shoulder to cry on. My kids are so blessed to have you in their lives!
Thanks to everyone who sent Ev and Wes birthday wishes, cards, generous gifts or just for thinking of them! We truly appreciate it and they felt so loved and special. They couldn't have had a better birthday!
Happy FIRST birthday Ev & Wes!
You are loved by SO many!
